Augustine Ann Kolar

Augustine " Ann" Kolar passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at a Houston hospital after a lingering illness. She was born on July 8, 1932 to Louis and Mary Materanek Kurtz of Shiner, Texas. Ann attended school at Charlottenburg and St. Ludmilla in Shiner before her marriage to Denis A. Kolar. She and her husband built a house on Hilltop Road in Shiner before moving to Houston. They often returned to Shiner to keep up with their farm. Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Denis A. Kolar; their two sons: Karl Kolar, Kevin Kolar and his wife Virginia; granddaughter: Sarah, all of Houston; sisters: Louise Fric of Victoria, Evelyn Novak, Rosalie Hagens, and brother Lawerence Kurtz, all of Shiner. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Louis "Shorty" Kurtz. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. Ann's Celebration of Life will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
