Arturo Diaz DeLeon, 82, passed away on September 21, 2016. He was born on May 26, 1934 in Kingsville,Texas to Pedro Diaz de Leon and Emma Ramirez who preceded him in death. He was the third of their union. Arturo joined the Marines in 1950 at the age of 16 continuing service as Military Police and was honorably discharged in 1952. He started working with Missouri-Pacific Railroad and retired in May of 1996 after 43 years of faithful service. He married Dominga Polanco on May 22, 1955 and had three children. Arturo and Dominga had celebrated 61 years of marriage. Arturo's passions, besides spending time with his family and practicing his Christian faith, included collecting United States Marine and railroad memorabilia. He spent much time researching US railroad history and searching for and collecting railroad historical items. He proudly displayed this collection at his home and was always excited to share the history of his railroad career and military service with family and friends.
Arturo is preceded in death by his siblings, Pedro Diaz de Leon Jr., Jaime Esequiel Diaz de Leon and, Daniel Diaz de Leon. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Dominga Diaz DeLeon; children, Arturo D. Jr. and wife Irasema, Teresa D. Day, Diana D. Flores and husband Mike Flores; brothers, Victor Diaz de Leon and Rodolfo Diaz de Leon; grandchildren, Elyse, Adrienne, Juliana DeLeon and Phillip Day; great grandchildren, Madilyn and Patience Day.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Brookside Funeral Home with service to begin at 2:00 pm in the Family Chapel. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park. Immediately following the interment will be a reception at Brookside Funeral Home until 5:30 pm
