Arthur “Art” Weldon Jordan, Jr., 86 was born February 11, 1929 in Dallas, Texas and passed away peacefully on June 15, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Arthur Jordan, Sr., whom he loved dearly.
Born and raised in Dallas, Art graduated from Adamson High School in 1947, where he earned many athletic achievements. He was voted All City in both basketball and baseball, with the baseball team winning the state championship in 1946 and 1947. Art received an athletic scholarship to Southern Methodist University. He began working for Sun Oil in Dallas in 1948 and continued participating in sports on various company teams. He retired in 1984, after 36 years of dedicated service. Art always enjoyed attending SMU basketball games and Dallas Cowboys football games. His generosity always led him to do more for others than for himself. His love and kindness will be greatly missed by the Dallas community and his family.
Art is survived by his sister, Dorothy Lillard, whom he loved very much. Other loved family members are Dorothy’s husband, Bill Lillard, Sr.; nephew, Bill Lillard, Jr. and wife Cindy and their children, Allison Parker (husband, Taylor and sons Bennett and Grayson), Jenny and Bobby (deceased); and nephew, Zack Lillard and wife, Cheryl and their daughters, Christina and Catherine.
The family gathered for a private visitation and interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. Art was a strong Christian and requested any memorial donations be made to East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N. Peak St, Dallas, TX 75246-1342.
