Arthur Hamilton Jones, husband of Aileen McHenry Jones and son of Arthur Carver Jones (deceased) and Jane Breeden Jones (deceased), went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, his Father and Mother, son Lee Forbes Jones, his daughter Janis Jones and his sister Jane Breeden Tracey as well as his step-sons George, Matthew, David and Mark Peyton.
Art was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1926. He was 93 years of age.
He is survived by his precious wife, Aileen, son Carver Hamilton Jones, daughter Jeanine Elster and her husband Dr. Allen D. Elster, Step-son John Peyton and wife Sheryl as well as 22 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild.
Art was a devoted husband to Aileen and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He loved being with those who lived close-by and having news of those living far away. He will be greatly missed especially by those little great-grandchildren who have such special memories of him.
Art grew up in San Antonio where he was an All City, All District Football Player at Alamo Heights High School. He served as a Naval Aviation Cadet during WWII. While in the Navy V-5 Program at Southwestern University he earned a varsity letter in Basketball. Art was in the Naval ROTC Program and he earned a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas. He was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Art was a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in Texas and Washington D. C.
Art's business was the Art Jones Company, a distributor for all RCA Consumer Electronics products for southeast Texas and western Louisiana. His company served over 500 Television dealers for over 25 years
He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Social Fraternity, the Eta Kappa Nu Honorary Electrical Engineering Fraternity, the Young Presidents Organization, former member of the Houston Country Club, The Houstonian and the University Club.
After being single for fifteen years, Art's old college roommate, Dr. R. Kingsley McHenry died and Art married Kingsley's widow, Aileen McHenry, in 1993. They celebrated a loving marriage of 27 years. Art and Aileen loved being in Prison Ministry where they ministered the love of Jesus to Death Row inmates and other men and women incarcerated in several Texas prisons.
Art had a heart for Evangelism. He wanted to reach others with the Salvation Message leading them into a relationship with Jesus assuring them of an eternity in Heaven. He was a diligent student of God's Word and he was an avid believer in the Creation message in the book of Genesis. He lived in the Eagle's Trace Retirement Community with Aileen where he held weekly classes showing DVDs on Creation Evangelism.
Art was blessed to be a member of Encourager Church where he and Aileen attended for the past eight years. He was a faithful attendee and enjoyed the fellowship at the Men's Meetings.
A private family Graveside Service officiated by Pastor Fernando Ruata will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery on August 22nd with interment there immediately after the service.
