He was born on January 26, 1930 to Sidonia and Arthur Albers Sr. in Ledbetter, TX. Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force from 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He received a bachelor degree in accounting from The University of Houston in 1962. Arthur had a strong work ethic that was developed at an early age. He loved spending time with his family, tending his vegetable garden, and weekends at his farm. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved driving his tractors. Arthur was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Marian in 2008.
He is survived by children, James Albers and wife Blanca, Cheryl Sterling and husband Dan, Dianne Albers, Duane Albers; grandsons, David Holub and wife Ann, Jonathan Sterling, Mark Garcia; sister, Mildred Parrack and husband Jim and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with Vigil/Rosary service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 E. Bell St., Fayetteville, TX with rite of committal to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
