Armando Camarillo

July 20, 1930 – May 18, 2017

Armando Camarillo, Sr. entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2017. He is survived by wife, Rosario Camarillo; sons Armando Camarillo Jr. and wife Elizabeth, Thomas X. Camarillo and wife Nancy, and daughter Laura M. Camarillo; grandchildren Alejandro J. Camarillo, Miguel A. Camarillo, Wilma Iris Camarillo, Teresa Spahni, Anthony Spahni, and Robert A. Camarillo; and one great-grandchild, Adriana E. Camarillo; sister, Rita Bennett; brothers- and sisters-in law Carmen Cervantes of Piedmont, CA., Josefina Camarillo, Rosalinda Camarillo, John and Carmen Lopez, and Roy and Cruz Ramon. Preceded in death by parents, Jesus E. and Concepcion Camarillo; brothers Jesse and Arturo Camarillo; sisters Yrma and Marta Camarillo; and brothers-in-law Charles Bennett, Antonio Cervantes, and Nick Lopez.

A native Houstonian, he was born at home and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. He went on to a forty-three year career with Southern Pacific Railroad at the Hardy Street Shops, interrupted only by two years’ service in the United States Army. One of the highlights of his life, he served stateside during the Korean War as a military policeman based out of San Antonio, and acquired a lifelong love of San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, and the Army.

Always a family man, he retired in 1992 to spend time with his grandchildren. Friends and family alike will remember him as a proud, intelligent man who could seemingly solve any problem and who would always help those in need. He was a great role model for his children and grandchildren to follow. We will also remember his devotion to the Virgen de Guadalupe, to whom he felt he owed so much.

He will be forever missed.

Services for Armando Camarillo, Sr. will be at Crespo Funeral Home, 2516 Navigation Boulevard, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held on May 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Final services will be Thursday, May 25, proceeding from Crespo to Our Lady of Guadalupe for a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale.
