Our great father, Antonio Guevara, at the young age of 60, was called to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 4:52 pm at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Antonio is survived by his wife, Maria S. Guevara, and their children, Johan, Rudy, Cruz, Estrella, and Abel. He also leaves behind his 8 lovely grandchildren, his siblings, and his mother and father. He was preceded in death by his first daughter, Heidi.
On August 4, 1956, in La Union, El Salvador, C.A., the youngest child to the Alvarenga-Guevara family was born. Since his first day of life, all those who met our father would fall in love with his gentle heart and humble tendencies. As a child he spent most of his life on the Island of Zacatillo, which lead him to his love of fishing and eventual first career as a fisherman. On July 09, 1976, almost 41 years ago, our father decided to attend a community dance that would change his life. In the dimly lit gathering, his eyes met for the very first time the love of his life, his wife and our mother, Maria Sara Escobar. Together, for 6 years, our parents lived in poverty in El Salvador in a house made of adobe. Our father would work tirelessly to provide what he could at the time in the impoverished country. He continued to work as a fisherman and lumberjack, with odd jobs in between. In the early 1980’s, our father made the decision to move his young family to the great country of The United States of America. Over the years, through hard work and perseverance, he would achieve the ultimate goal that is the American Dream. He started a masonry service company that to this day is known city wide. He achieved great success, providing for his family in ways that he had only dreamed of, but despite his success, he never lost his humility.
Our father’s love and character was strengthened by his love and devotion to his beliefs in his Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our father was a devoted Christian following in the scriptures of the word of God. He was a member of Iglesia Bautista Libertad (Liberty Baptist Church) in Houston, TX from his first day of accepting The Lord Jesus Christ in to his heart in the mid 80’s until his final breathe. His time as a member and Elder of the church included donating his time and resources for the construction of churches and missions.
In Loving Memory,
Antonio Guevara
