Antonio was born to Modesto Gonzales and Julia Orizaga Gonzales on July 13, 1932, in Genoa, Texas. He was married to his beloved wife Irene Gonzales for many years before her passing on May 2, 2017.
Antonio is survived by: his brother Jesse Gonzales; his children Laura Ann Miranda, Modesto Gonzales and wife Joey Gonzales, Maria Ramirez and husband Ruben Ramirez, George Gonzales and wife Norma Gonzales, Yvonne Suntharam and husband Khannan Suntharam, Lorenzo Miranda, Jr., Sonya Anita Rodriguez, Mary Elizabeth Mendez and husband Manuel, Patsy Sanchez and husband Paul Sanchez, Ray Del Pilar Miranda, and Rosemary Gutierrez; and 40 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and sons Antonio Gonzales, Jr. and Roy Anthony Gonzales.
Antonio worked as a custodial supervisor for University of Houston, with over 36 years of service, before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed traveling, camping, working on his house and cars, yardwork, and sports.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home (6900 Lawndale St., Houston, Texas 77023) from 5-9 PM. The final viewing will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 9 AM, and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM, both at St. Christopher Catholic Church (8150 Park Place Blvd., Houston, Texas 77017). The interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 11AM.
