Anthony Ray Jackson was born September 2,1958 to Lewis and Jewel Easter Jackson in Houston, Texas. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Ryan Elementary and later Jefferson Davis Senior High where he graduated in the top ten percent of his graduating class receiving his high school diploma. He played on the football team scoring many touchdowns and he also ran track.
Anthony accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Seymour Adolph Sr., where he served in the male chorus.
On January 5, 1978 God bless him with his first son Andre’ Cain. On December 29, 1979 he was blessed again with his second son who was named Anthony Ray Jackson Jr. On November 25, 1981 we got married and, in the summer of 1985, our son Jeremy Jamil Jackson was born.
Anthony worked several jobs until he decided to go work for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice for over 30 years. This is where he met his second family that he would come home just about everyday talking and telling me about his day. He really loved the many friends he made at TDCJ and stayed in contact with them after he retired. He would call and say “who the Lt. on duty tonight, is Lt. Houston there tonight, is Major Jackson there, don’t make me call Filippo on you, who’s on the hallway, who’s in the picket. I would say boy you do not work there anymore, leave those people along. He loved his TDCJ family.
