June 21, 1934– April 12, 2025
Houston, Texas
With love and gratitude, we honor the life of Annamma Joseph, a woman whose faith, discipline, and love shaped generations. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy defined by resilience, independence, and grace.
Born in Ranni, Kerala, Annamma moved to Bombay in the 1950s with her late husband, M.A. Joseph, where she started a career as a bookkeeper for Indian Railways. In Bombay, she raised three children: Anne, Roy, and Reggie. Following her retirement, she and Joseph moved to Houston in 1990 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. In 2011, Annamma became a widow, yet continued to live independently, while still actively participating in church, community, and family events in Houston. Her welcoming and loving nature made her “Ammachi”, or grandmother, to everyone around her, grandchild or not.
She deeply valued her family and faith and was actively involved at St. John’s Knanaya Church attending every Sunday when able to do so. Her last place of residence was Goldberg Tower where she was an active and respected member of the community, leading Bible classes, meeting new residents, and making friends everywhere she went.
Annamma is survived by her children—Anne Kurian (Sam Kurian), Roy Joseph (Reji Joseph) and Reggie Joseph (Mary Meenu Joseph); five grandchildren—Roger Kurian (Jeril Kurian), David Joseph, Krystal Joseph, Kimberly Joseph Benson (Evan Benson), and Michael Joseph; four great-grandchildren—Ryan Kurian, Ariana Kurian, Anthony Kurian, and Aiden Kurian
