Anna (Kochevar) Kendall passed away peacefully on January 22, 2019. She was born in Eveleth, Minnesota on December 6, 1917, the 7th of 11 children of John and Agnes (Prelesnik) Kochevar. Anna grew up in Eveleth, graduating from Eveleth High School in 1935 and Eveleth Junior College in 1937. She worked in Minneapolis for the state of Minnesota while her future husband attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota. Anna married John Manford Kendall in Eveleth on January 1, 1942. The couple moved to Texas in 1942 and spent the rest of their lives there.
In mid-life, after raising 5 children, Anna returned to school, graduating from the University of Houston in 1968 with a BS in Education.
Anna had an excellent singing voice and starred in amateur theatricals. She had a lifelong love of music. She also had a passion for fiber art and was a longtime member of Houston Fiber Artists. She produced many beautiful quilts. She was active in a local line dancing group until her late 80s. Anna was proud of her Slovenian heritage and enjoyed cooking various Slovenian dishes.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, 8 of her siblings and her husband of 52 years. She is survived by sisters Regina O’Donnell and Florence Kochevar; children John and Cindy Kendall, Barbara and Ron Lefaive, James Kendall, Nancy Kendall, Ann Marie and Rob Stock; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was interred in a private ceremony at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
