Ann St. John Nesrsta went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2019. She was born in Conroe, Texas on April 12, 1942. In 1960, after graduating from Marion High School in Houston, Ann entered the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Natural Science and Mathematics from Marillac College, St. Louis, Missouri and taught elementary school. After returning to private life in 1971, she taught junior high and high school Science and Mathematics in the Katy, Klein, and CyFair school districts. She received her Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston and worked as a counselor for many years. Ann and her husband Gary Nesrsta celebrated their twenty-ninth wedding anniversary this past June. She was a member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She was an avid reader, a pianist, (had perfect pitch), enjoyed cooking, and prayed the Rosary and read the Bible every day.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Richard Hornbrook St. John, Sr. and Mattie Lee St. John, and sisters Barbara St. John and Mary Elizabeth Logan. She is survived by her husband, Gary Wayne Nesrsta, her daughter Denise Marie Laszlo and step-daughters: Bridget Roberts, Sharron Swenson, Peggy Nesrsta, Janet Lee. Also, survived by her brothers and sisters: Richard Hornbrook St. John Jr., Thomas Lee St. John, Robert Harald St. John, William Saunders St. John, Evelyn St. John Merchant, Marian Avitus Cox, and Susan St. John, along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 22 at Brookside Funeral Home – Cypress Creek from 4 to 8 pm, with the Holy Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church on Friday, August 23 at 11 am, with a reception following in the Education Building, 10135 West Road, Houston, Texas 77064. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 I-10 East, Houston, Texas 77079.
