Ann Lowdon Hamilton, adored mother and grandmother, died Friday the 13th of December 2013, at the age of 85. Born in Fort Worth, on the 12th of August 1928, she was the third and youngest daughter of Jean Logan and William Cameron Lowdon.
Ann graduated from the University of Texas in 1949 with a Bachelor of Journalism. While there, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1950, she married John Louis Hamilton, also of Fort Worth. She and her husband became permanent residents of Houston in 1958. She was a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, The Junior League of Houston, The Antiques Study Group and the River Oaks Rose Club.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Anna Beth and Doug Hill; son Caleb Hamilton; grandchildren Cameron and Hallie Hill; sisters Margaret Lowdon and Kathryn Schutts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Kalisha Askew, Ann Belisle, Inga Guy, Yvonne Joubert, Tami Roberts, Merle Rostant, and Beverly Thomas for their loving care and companionship during her final years.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 19th of December, at the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Richnow, Senior Associate Rector, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Sumners Hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Ann’s memory may be directed to the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX, 77019; or to the charity of one’s choice.
