Angeline Mary Phillips died peacefully in her sleep at home on October 25, 2023. She was 90 years old. She was born on September 14, 1933 to Christine Gorski Kaliszewski and Frank John Kaliszewski. Angie‘s life was enriched by older sisters Martha and Aggie, and older brothers Edward and John, and her younger brother Paul. Her siblings gave her the two nicknames of Angie and Honey.
In 1953 Honey married the love of her life, Bennie J. Phillips (BJ). They shared a wonderful life together filled with family, friends, travel, country and cattle, and beach fun until BJ’s death in 2002.
Angie belonged to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and was quite devout throughout her long life.
Angie began her illustrious banking career at Oak Forest State Bank. Through the years and the promotions she moved on to Pan American bank, then Merchants Bank, followed by First Choice Bank, and then she completed her career at Prosperity Bank, where she had attained the position of vice president. She retired after the death of BJ.
Angie was a gambler and loved doing it. She loved to travel with both her friends and her family. Some of her trips included Las Vegas, Georgia, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and several of our national parks. Her favorite hang-out was the American Legion Hall where she spent many hours with both friends and family. She loved her neighbors, and that love has been returned, and still lives on.
Angie was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, five of her siblings and some of her nieces and nephews. Angie is survived by her brother, Paul William Kaliszewski, her nephews, Bobby Elkins (Martha’s son) Butch Goodman (Aggie’s son) and several great nephews and great nieces.
The family would like to thank all who have loved and supported Angie in her lifetime, especially two of her best friends, Mary Chavez and Doreen Kridner, who continue their love today. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Angie to either Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Houston, Saint Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or Paralyzed Veterans of America (pva.org).
