Andrew Emile Wenner

Our Drew Baby and Golden Boy, Andrew Emile Wenner, born February 29, 1936, aged 86, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023. A native Beaumont, Texas resident, he was the son of Raymond and Bessie Wenner, who preceded him in death, as did the mother of his children, Adrienne “Teetsie” Wenner; siblings Raymond Jr., Betty Dean and Roberta Schroeter; in addition to his children Debbie Bridges and J.P. Richardson.

He is survived by his brother Lionel “Nubby” Wenner and his wife, Val; Randy “Tank” Wenner and his wife, Gay; sister, Jennifer Walker and her husband, Robert; sons, Joseph “Butch” Wenner and his wife, Barbara; Jerry Wenner and his wife, Beth; Jamie Wenner; daughter, Denise Henke and her husband, Keith; daughter-in-law, Patty Richardson; grandchildren, Ashlyn Adams and her husband Kevin; Jay Richardson, Thomas Richardson, Makenzie Aragon and her husband Sam, Sierra Wenner, Justin Wenner, Casey Wenner, Alyssa Henke and Logan Henke. He is also survived by great grandchildren, extended family and many dear friends.

Andrew or Andy “The Carpet Man” and “The Plum of Beaumont” was known by many people across the Beaumont area. Andrew was born in Beaumont, Texas, one of seven siblings. He attended St. Anthony High School where he excelled at football winning the City of Beaumont’s Most Valuable Football Player Award. He then went on to play football at Wharton Jr. College, LSU and Southern Mississippi, where he later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. After college, he moved back to Beaumont where he met Adrienne “Teetsie” Wenner, and they had four beautiful children. He then began his career as a carpet installer, thus the nickname, “Carpet Man” was born.

He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones at Crystal Beach, watching horse races at Delta Downs, listening to classic rock and country music, being active outdoors, golfing with the fab five, fishing and grilling with family. He also loved coaching his sons’ football team with his two brothers and of course watching his LSU Tigers and Dallas Cowboys in his later years.

Andrew was the life of the party and lit up any room he walked into. He didn’t know a stranger and even made new friends in his last years. He lived by his Golden Rule, “It don’t cost nothin’ to be nice.” Another favorite saying Drew lived by was, “Always keep yourself marketable.” He has passed down much of his wisdom and zest for life to all he loved dearly. His legacy and memory will live on through everyone who he has encountered. Drew’s family will miss him immensely and continue to celebrate his life daily. We pray for Drew as he enters Heaven that he will be at peace knowing he is with the Lord and find joy reuniting with family and friends.

Drew’s family is very thankful to all of those who cared for him in these last years of life. We are so grateful for the love and support of many friends whom he considered family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1:30 PM at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, TX 77701. Following the Funeral Mass there will be a reception in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica or St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School.
