Andres “Andy” Octavio Muniz Jr. was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left the world on December 26th, 2020 at age 64. His battle with his health in the last few years showed his bravery and courage in facing life challenges with a constant smile. Despite his pain, Andy continued to laugh, made jokes, and took care of his family’s needs. He left the world with more love and care than anyone could possibly imagine.
He was born to Andres Sr. and Ernestina Muniz in May 1956. After graduating high school, Andy served in the Air Force from June 1974 to August 1978 as an E4. He served in the Harlingen Police Department from February 1981 to May 2013 until he retired as a Sargent Supervisor in Internal Affairs. He also attended the FBI National Academy.
Andy never hesitated to help his family and friends. He was also the person to call for guidance and support. No matter the time or the place, he was there for you in any way that he could possibly be. When times were challenging, Andy made it easier; he was always the light. Andy was a simple man who enjoyed relaxing on the patio in his backyard to the peace and quiet.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mariana Figueroa. Andy was a proud dad to Marcos and Amanda Muniz; Uriel and Annie Figueroa; and Katie Figueroa and Colby Pitman. He was an active grandfather to Alison Muniz; Gabriel, Isaac, and Layla Figueroa; Miranda and Isaak Camargo. He is survived by his mother, Ernestina Muniz and Aunt Lupita Muniz. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Ann & Tereso Pulido; Melba & Fortino Saenz; Adalberto & Rosie Muniz; Maricela & Jose Garcia; and Graciela Muniz; eight nieces and two nephews; uncle and aunt: Antonio & Delia Muniz. He is preceded by his father, Andres Octavio Muniz Sr.and uncle Delfino Muniz.
