Ammie Lee Scroggins, Age 80, Of Houston, Tx, Passed Away On January 16th, 2024 Surrounded By Her Daughter And Grandchildren. She Was Born In Belle D’eau, Louisiana On August 10, 1943 To Harold And Thelma Smith. She Was 1 Of 11 Children. Ammie Graduated From Galena Park High School. She Married Richard Leon Scroggins On August 23, 1975 And Together They Raised A Beautiful Daughter, Jennie, Who Ammie Believed Was Her “Miracle Baby”.
Ammie Held Many Different Occupations Throughout Her Life, Most Notably At Companies Such As Tennessee Gas, Sam Montgomery Oldsmobile, H&H Radio Services, And Even Opened Her Own Cleaning Business Which She Ran For Many Years. She Also Worked For Harris County Elections For Over 30 Years In Many Positions, Including Election Judge.
Together Richard And Ammie Were Very Involved With Their Local VFW Post 581. She Held Many Positions Over The Years Including Vice President, Patriotic Instructor, Trustee, Conductress, Guard At State Level, Served On Ladies Auxiliary, As Well As Volunteered For Numerous Events.
Those Who Knew Her Would Say She Was A Woman Of Faith And Conviction. Ammie Was An Active Participant In Her Church, Beautiful Savior Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, And Was A Member For Over 43 Years. She Held Many Positions Over The Years Including Chairman Of The Finance Board, A Member Of The School Board, A Member Of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, As Well As Volunteering For Numerous Festivals, And Events Such As Vacation Bible School.
Ammie Enjoyed Spending Time With Her Family At The Lake Boating And Camping, As Well As Dancing. She Always Looked Forward To Their Annual Carnival Cruise With Friends And Family. Whether It Was Baking So The Home Would Smell Good When Jennie Arrived Home From School, Serving As A Taxi In Support Of School Events, Or Just Being There To Show Her Love, Ammie Devoted Her Life To Being The Best Mother And Memaw She Could. She Spoke Of Her Family With So Much Pride And Joy. Not A Day Went By That She Didn’t Want To Hear Their Voices And Let Them Know How Much She Loved Them And How Proud She Was Of Them.
She Is Survived By Her Spouse Of 48 Years, Richard Scroggins; Daughter Jennifer Kowis; Granddaughter Samantha Debardelaben And Her Husband Josh Debardelaben; Great Grandchildren Cohen And Remi Debardelaben; Grandson Dillon Kowis And His Wife Katie Kowis, Grandson Dalton Kowis And His Fiancé Kristina O’banion.
She Is With Our Lord In Heaven, In A Place He Has Prepared Just For Her. We Know Her Eternal Life In Heaven Will Be One Free Of Pain Or Suffering. She Has Joined Loved Ones Who Went Before Her, And She Will Wait For Us Who Will Follow Her Someday To Be At Our Lord's Side.
