Leon was born in Leonard, Oklahoma on May 16, 1929. He graduated from Sapulpa High School and served two years as Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. For 31 years he worked for Getty Oil Company as Insurance and Risk Management Supervisor, as a means of faithfully providing for his family. After retiring early, he spent his time learning the craft of woodworking, caring for his wife, and spending time with his family. He lived a life of faith in Jesus, his Redeemer and Savior, being active in area churches, notably Evangelistic Temple and Braeswood Assembly of God where he sang in the choir and served as treasurer.
Leon (aka Grandpa) left a legacy of love to his children and grandchildren. He was always ready for a game of Baseball or Carrom (IYKYK) and loved to tell stories, always inserting his quick wit and dry sense of humor to keep us all laughing. Most of all, he was so faithful to his family, providing love, support and generosity whenever needed. Besides his family, his other great love was Southern Gospel Quartet Singing. His heart truly came alive when he listened to, talked about and sang Gospel music. He has been known to say, “There’s just no better music on earth!” And today we rejoice that he is singing in heaven’s choir!
Leon is preceded in death by his entire family including his parents, Mace and Ellen Taylor; 3 brothers, JC, James and Bud; 3 sisters, Imogene, Wilma and Loretta and their spouses; and his loving wife of fifty years, Glenna Odeyene Scott Taylor. He is survived by many close family members who loved him dearly including his many nieces and nephews and their families; brother-in-law Lee; his daughter Karen Taylor Clark, her husband Russ and their children Kathleen Clark So, her husband Harry, Ethan Clark and his wife Crisnelle; his daughter Diane Taylor Fleming, her husband Declan and their children John Fleming, his wife Haley and Leon’s great grandson Callum, Jacob Fleming, Rachel Fleming Suddarth and her husband Cole.
