It was in seventh grade where she met a nagging classmate, Richard Joseph Prince. He later became one of her closest friends and their friendship turned into love. They were united in holy matrimony on July 24, 1970. To this union, two daughters were born, Nicole Evett Prince and Richelle Jonae Prince.
As a young woman, Alma started her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone company now known as AT&T. She held various positions and served in many leadership roles. Alma was not only known for her professional impact, but her ability to connect and touch the lives of others. She was loved by those whom she formed special friendships with, and she loved them. She remained a faithful employee and served this company diligently up until her retirement after 33 years of service.
Alma confessed Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and attended her family church, Macedonia Methodist Church, and remained a member there until her marriage. She later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of 5th Pastor, Rev. F. D. Sampson, Sr. and remained a member until God called her home under the leadership of her 6th Pastor, Rev. F. D. Sampson, Jr. She strived to work out her soul salvation and served in many capacities such as President of Mother’s Union, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Culinary Ministry, Sanctuary Choir, Women’s Chorus, Senior Saints Chorus and others. Alma was blessed by the Lord with many talents and used them not only for herself but shared with others. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting (taught to her by Sis. J. Sampson Spikes) and crafting. Her true passion was cooking; she enjoyed baking cakes, pies, and all types of desserts. Alma loved God, her pastors, and her church.
