Allene went to grade school in Cottonwood, Texas. She graduated High School in 1945 from Cross Plains High School located in Cross Plains, Texas. After graduating she went to business school in Abilene,Texas where she learned accounting. She met Clyde Henry Jones in July 1948 while visiting family on vacation in Cross, Plains, Texas. They fell in love at first sight. Later in July of 1949 they both met up in Cross Plains again, that’s when they decided to plan their future and on Saturday, July 30, 1949 they announced their engagement. They were married the following Monday, August 1, 1949. They took a two-week honeymoon stopping in Houston Texas to visit Clyde’s family. They really enjoyed their visit and decided to move from Abilene to Houston where Clyde had been living. Their daughter Cynthia Gail Jones was born September 8, 1951 and seven years later, their Son Dennis Clyde Jones was born September 6, 1958. They also had a landscaping business, C. A. Jones and Son, Landscaping. After Clyde passed away, Allene started working for Kmart and retired after 30 years.
Allene and Clyde were very involved with church and one of the original founders of the West 34th Church of Christ. In her later years she changed to Candlelight Church of Christ, 2011. We made frequent trips back to Cross Plains for their homecoming and always had to take the route by Kmart so we could stop and shop.
Allene was so crafty. She made crocheted poodles, she was an expert seamstress. She made multiple quilts and blankets.
