Monty was born in Tucumcari NM, on December 23, 1945. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and later earned his MBA from Pepperdine University. He worked for Texaco when drafted into the army, was Co of a 101st airborne maintenance unit. Monty also worked for ARCO, Wanda Petroleum, and Enterprise Products Co, retiring in 2011.
Monty loved his wife, children and extended family wholeheartedly, always putting their needs, desires and happiness above his own. He was a true example of servant leadership, never hesitating to drop everything to help any way he could. He was happiest spending time with family and seeing them happy. His smile and sense of humor, extremely dry, will be sorely missed.
He served the Lord and the Church with gladness, becoming a member of the board and a deacon at his church in Houston. If there was a need of any kind, he was the first to volunteer. He served others, never wanting to be in the spotlight. His heart was humble, pure and full of love.
Monty is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Cramar Wells. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beryl Wells of Lawrence County AL; Children Mitchell Wells of Houston, TX and Krista Bumgart of Lawrence County AL; Son- in-love Nic Bumgart of Lawrence County AL; Grandchildren Reid, Eli and Charlotte Bumgart; Brothers Bill Wells of Larkspur CA, Jerry Wells of Santa Fe, NM, and Phill Wells od San Angelo, TX; Nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Monty's family is grateful to Dr. Jeffrey Johnson of Decatur, the staff and nurses of Decatur Morgan Hospital, and Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, Alabama.
