Mr. McAshan was born April 21, 1931 to the late Anne Wohleb McAshan and Allen Dupree McAshan, Sr. in Houston, TX. He is survived by his wife, L. Jeannette Worrall McAshan; two sons, Allen Dupree McAshan, III, James Dennis McAshan. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevan Duncan McAshan, and his brother John Brashear McAshan.
Allen was fifth generation Houstonian, and attended Robertson Elementary and Lamar High School. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1952, and served in active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-56. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1963 from South Texas College of Law, and was a member of the State Bar of Texas for 54 years. He served Harris County, as Assistant District Attorney from 1964 until he retired in 1992. He has been an active member Holy Spirit Episcopal Church since 1963, and served the church as Chalice Bearer, Lay Reader, and as member of the Vestry and Lay Leadership. Allen was a gentleman, devoted to his wife and family. His sense of humor, kindness, and respect for others was an inspiration to us all, and we will miss him.
Family and friends are invited to a military graveside service on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 9:00 am at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue, Houston, TX 77007. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire Road, Houston, TX 77024, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Holy Spirit Building Fund.
