Alla Mae was born to Evariste and Pearl Gremillion Ponthier, November 3, 1926, in Hessmer, Louisiana. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1943. She married Walter K. Thompson in 1946, after he returned from serving in WWII as an Army Medic. They lived together in Houston and then moved to Pearland. Together they raised two children, Peggy Ann and Donna Sue, who were the focus of their lives.
Alla Mae is survived by her daughters, Peggy Rusciano and Donna Pitchford (Gary), Grandchildren: Keri Duggan (Chris Grayson), Brandon Beaver, and Jared Rusciano (Lorena). Great Grandchildren: Ty and Clay Duggan, Brianna Beaver, Liam and Olivia Rusciano and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter K. Thompson, Evariste Ponthier, father, Pearl Ponthier, mother, Rena Ponthier, sister, Nelson Ponthier, brother and Edward Ponthier, brother.
Alla Mae’s calling in life was as a lifelong Master Homemaker. She was a fantastic Cajun cook. She loved flowers and always cultivated many gorgeous and unusual plants and bushes. Growing up we had the neatest, prettiest yard in the neighborhood. She was the definitive babysitter. If help was needed, Grandma and later called GG would be there.
A visitation for Alla will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Angels in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A graveside service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A reception will follow in Pearland. Chaplain Jerry Stark will officiate the ceremony. If desired, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
