It is with sadness that we announce Aline E. Deming (Jolicoeur) passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on October 16, 2022. Aline is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John R. Deming; her mother, Aline Collins (Beaulne); and her brother, Thomas Collins. Aline is survived by her loving brother, Gilbert Collins (Jolicoeur) of Ottawa, Ontario; sister-in-law, Paula Collins of Ottawa, her nephews Matthew Collins, Christopher Collins, and Kurtis Collins; and her beloved cats, Jane and Dorian.
Aline was born in 1941 in Ottawa, Ontario, to Aline Beaulne and Jean-Louis Jolicoeur, a decorated World War II veteran who served in the Canadian Armoured Corps in Italy, Holland, and Germany, and was wounded. Aline was affectionately known as ‘Toun’ by her nuclear family.
Aline and John were proud Houstonians for over 30 years and were generous patrons of the arts and charities in Houston, including the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Alley Theatre, and several animal protection & wildlife preservation causes. During their marriage, John and Aline travelled the world visiting such countries as Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Pitcairn Island, Easter Island, and all of Europe.
Aline was a gifted needle pointer, skilled bowler, and devoted lover of animals. Her relatives and friends in Ottawa and Houston will mourn her passing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Aline’s name to the Friends for Life Animal Shelter or the Houston Humane Society WWRC Wildlife Center.
