The family rest easy knowing she had tremendous joy in her long life. Her intelligence, sense of humor, wittiness, strength and counsel will be greatly missed.
Alicia was born to Angel Chazco Castańeda and Maria Luisa Lopez Mellado de Chazco on May 18, 1933, in Tampico, Tamaulipas. The family later moved to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, where they were raised. She met and fell in love and in 1956, married the love of her life, Ramon Solano. Together they ventured to live and create great memories in Chicago, Illinois, Pico Rivera, California, Huntington Park, California, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas and finally settling in Houston, Texas where they raised their four children.
Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Solano.
Alicia’s greatest joy were her children, who were her backbone.
She is survived by her pride and joy; daughters, Alicia Hernandez and husband, Dagoberto Hernandez. Jacqueline Burke and husband, Roger W. Burke. Sons, Raymond Solano and wife, Karen Solano. Edward Solano and wife, Maria Olga Murillo-Solano.
She treasured her grandchildren; Keith Hernandez and wife, Monica Hernandez. Carolina Valenzuela and husband, Edgar Valenzuela. Bianca Solano-Gassaway and husband, Timothy Gassaway, II. Abraham Mouasher of Dallas, Texas. Edward Solano, II and Giuliana Solano.
Her great-grandchildren who were her partners in crime; Nicholas and Camila Valenzuela. Emerson and Madeline Hernandez.
And finally, her “compańeras y compańeros” from The Denver Harbor Senior Center, which she loved, loved, loved.
On Monday, April 3 of 2023 from five o’clock in the afternoon, friends are cordially invited to gather for visitation followed by a rosary at seven o’clock in the evening in The Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas, 77023.
On Tuesday, April 4 of 2023 from nine o’clock in the morning, visitation and share remembrances of Alicia followed by Catholic Mass at ten o’clock in The Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas, 77023.
The burial will be family only.
