Alicia Gomez-Ramos, or "Maestra" to her students, was born on June 17, 1958 in Reynosa, Mexico to Juan and Maria Guadalupe Sanchez-Gomez, and passed away on December 26, 2023. With a sense of humor and a tendency to tell corny jokes, Alicia could always be found with a smile on her face and a compliment to give. A big sports fan, she could often be found cheering her Houston Astros and was thrilled to have witnessed their historic World Series wins. A vivacious reader and a proponent of public education, Alicia was a dedicated teacher who instilled the virtues of responsibility, compassion, and integrity into her students. Alicia firmly believed in giving each student a fair opportunity and saw the best in them, even when they themselves could not. As a devoted mother, Alicia was warm and empathetic, and a solid foundation in her son's life. Like her students, she instilled honesty, fidelity, and patience in her son. A friend to animals and nature, Alicia welcomed the sun on her face and the beauty that came from the world. She also loved to co-opt other people's birthdays, celebrating them as if they were her own. She is survived by her son, Toby Ramos and future daughter in law Mary Staser, brothers, Daniel Gomez and wife, Olga; Mario Gomez and, husband, Bill Howard; Juan Gomez and Armando Gomez and wife, Jinny; sisters, Maria De Los Angeles De Los Reyes and husband, Adan; Maria Gomez and husband, Jose; Gabriella Gomez Pedraza and husband, Samuel; sister-in-law, Felis Gomez, and mother, Maria Guadalupe Gomez, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
