Alice was born January 30, 1931, in Upshur County Texas near Gilmer, to Elmo and Vesta Caldwell. She was raised as an only child in Houston, TX and attended Houston public schools. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1948 where she led the Houstonettes Drill Team Marching Corp.
She married Russell Pyburn on March 4, 1949, and they had their only daughter, Sharon in 1950.
Alice played the organ at Mt. Houston Baptist Church from 1962 until 1981. Throughout their 44 years of marriage, Russell and Alice loved to travel, hunt and attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year. Alice enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, decorating for Christmas, and spending time with her daughter and grand-daughters.
Once Russell died in 1992, she took over their business, Pyburn Retail Foods, until 2014.
Alice became a member of The Woodlands Church where she loved to sing with the choir in the chapel and attend weekly Bible studies. She enjoyed spending her retired years shopping or at many activities and events of her great-grandchildren.
Alice is preceded in death by her father, Elmo Caldwell, her mother, Vesta Caldwell, her grand-daughter, Melissa Easton Kimzey, and her husband, Russell Pyburn.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Pyburn Easton, son-in-law Robert Kelly Easton, and grand-daughters Melissa Lynch and her husband Mike, Mandy Duree and her husband Levi, Kasey Klute, and Amanda Wheeler. Gary Kimzey and his wife Caroline.
She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren Christian Walker, Joseph Kimzey and his wife Alicia, Michael Dean and his wife Bailey, Nathan Kimzey, Morgan Dean, Kaitlyn Duree, Mason Duree, Joshua Klute, Kaylee Duree, Brienna Wheeler, Miles Duree, Lisa Marie Klute, Blake Wheeler, Beckham Wheeler, and Kinlee Duree.
A visitation for Alice will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A burial committal will occur Saturday, August 12, 2023, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
