On January 15, 1951
Alice was born to the loving and proud parents of Arthur Lee Wyatt (deceased) and Daisy Wyatt Galentine (deceased) in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Settegast where she attended and graduated from B. C. Elmore High School. She was baptized at an early age at Community Missionary Baptist Church under the Late Rev. L.R. Askew. After marriage, Alice joined Macedonia Missionary Church, Rev. A.D. Norton, Senior Pastor. She was a member for more than 30 years.
In the 70’s, Alice began her career in the grocery industry as a cashier. While at Safeway, she developed a passion in management. In 1992, she joined the HEB family. Affectionately known as “Ms Alice”; she became a mentor to many partners throughout the division. Alice was one of the first members of the Houston Diversity Leadership Council. She also received numerous accolades and awards such as the Dick Gregory Customer Champion award, HEB People Development, Best Sales Merchant Champion, Best Income, and she was featured in the Houston Chronicle for winning the Golden Shopping Cart award for the Best Supermarket Manager. Although she retired in 2016, she continued to be a vital influence among the HEB family.
A Great Journey Ends
On April 20, 2020 at 2:05 p.m. with her loving husband by her side, she went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lee Wyatt, Daisy Wyatt Galentine and sister Gloria Wyatt DeRouesselle.
She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Rev. Andrew Lee Gaston; her children Carlos (Sharon), Patrece, Trina (Rodney), Andrea (Sean); grandchildren Kendall, Classie, Camron, Corine, Sean, Ellante, Dominique, Christopher, Bianca, Robert, and Zakoria; sisters Doris Wyatt Good, Erma Wyatt Brown (Joe), Barbara Wyatt Fontenot, Arthur Faye Wyatt Sledge (Arnold) and Sharon Wyatt DeRouesselle; mother-in-law Bertha Gaston; sisters-in-law Evelyn Gaston and Helen HInes; brother-in-law Robert DeRouesselle; many nieces, nephews and close family friends.
