Alice Gloria Guajardo Corral was born on October 26, 1953 in Harlingen, Texas to Lorenzo and Carmen Guajardo. She was the third eldest of eight children. Shortly after birth, her family relocated to Houston, Texas. Alice was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School. Following graduation, she attended Cosmetology school and then worked as a beautician for several years. Alice married Manuel Corral on May 25, 1975 and soon left her career in Cosmetology to help her husband with their family business. As their family began to grow, Alice decided to become a devoted wife and mother.
Alice is survived by her husband of 47 years, Manuel; daughters Natalie and son-in-love Josh, Cynthia and daughter-in-love Jessica, Cristal and son-in-love Bryan, and Danielle; her beloved grandchildren Olivia, Emilia, and Franz; sisters Irene, Carmen, Yolanda, Rosie, and Lucy; brother George; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and her little dog, Sammy.
Alice “Wita” adored her grandchildren, or as she would call them, her “grand-sugars” and often stopped whatever she was doing to be with them, play with them, and cook their favorite meal – fideo. Alice’s true joy was to spend time with her daughters. She loved to be “wined and dined” by them, spending the day shopping and ending the evening at her favorite restaurant, Houston’s. Most of her family’s memories were created around the dinner table. Alice was a fantastic cook and made homemaking look effortless. She was a devout Christian who loved God, read her bible daily, and enjoyed watching Christian ministry television programs. Alice attended Lakewood Church for over 20 years. Her home was filled with handwritten scriptures and prayers that she often gave to friends and family in need of encouragement. Alice was known to be a wonderful listener and friend, and her warm smile brought comfort to everyone in her life. Alice was the kind of person that you could talk to about anything without fear of judgment. Her advice came from a pure place of care and honesty. Alice was a classy woman who sparkled with grace and elegance, and never left the house without makeup and earrings. Alice inspired you to be the best version of yourself. To know Alice was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by so many. To our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Tia, and Friend, we celebrate your life. Your love, legacy, and memory will live on until we meet again.
