Alice Seddon Brown passed away on November 13, 2010 in Durham, North Carolina. She was born on November 29, 1921 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brown; parents, Albert and Isabel Seddon; brother, James Seddon and sister, Helen Barrington.
Alice graduated from Reagan High School in 1939. She received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1948 and a Masters degree in administration in 1951. During her 44 year career in education, she was a positive influence on many students and colleagues in the Klein, Spring Branch, Leander and Round Rock school districts. She retired in 1993 as Deputy Superintendent in Round Rock ISD. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society; named Round Rock Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year; loved to paint; worshiped her pets and an avid supporter of the Democratic Party. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Richmond, Texas.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Crane and husband Larry of Durham, North Carolina; Mike Greenwood and husband Bobby of Richmond, Texas; her grandchildren: Sean Greenwood and wife Carla of Humble,TX, Laura Crane Benowitz and husband Brian of Las Vegas, NV, Kelly Greenwood Prather and husband Mike of Houston, TX, and Alison Crane Gatherum and husband Scott of Durham, NC; her great-grandchildren: Jake Benowitz, Brooke Benowitz, Sadie Greenwood, Emma Greenwood, Parker Prather and Scarlett Greenwood.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16 beginning at 1:30 PM with funeral services following at 2:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and friends at Croasdaile Village Retirement Community in Durham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John United Methodist Church.
