Born on December 6, 1941, in Houston, Freddy was a proud Texan through and through, with a big heart, an easy smile, and a deep love for his family and community.
Freddy lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, laughter, and an unshakable devotion to those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maria Medina, 6 brothers, 1 sister and his beloved son, Timothy Medina, whose memory he carried in his heart every single day.
Freddy is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 66 years, Rosemary Medina. Their love story was one of true devotion and partnership—full of laughter, patience, and deep affection. Freddy adored his "vieja," and everyone who knew him could see just how much she meant to him. Whether they were sharing quiet mornings or sitting side by side watching a ball game, their connection was unshakable—a love that spanned decades and touched everyone around them.
Freddy is also survived by his children: Alfred Lee Medina, Jerry Medina, Howard Medina, Cynthia Martinez and her husband Thomas, and daughter Denise Medina—all of whom he loved with all his heart. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Phillip Medina, Emily Martinez, Kristine Castillo, Travis Medina, Jimmy Martinez, Courtney Medina, Natalee Medina, Danielle Salas, Nathan Martinez and Dalilah Salas—as well as nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Maria Jerez and brother Rudy Medina.
Freddy was the kind of father and grandfather who showed up—at games, graduations, and everyday moments—with a warm smile and unwavering support. His family was everything to him, and his pride in them was boundless.
Freddy was a dedicated provider and proud to work as a truck driver for United Parcel Service, retiring after 32 years of service. He was known for his dependability, work ethic, and genuine friendliness.
Off the job, Freddy was a lifelong athlete who played softball for much of his life and later traded his glove for golf clubs, spending many afternoons on the course with friends and family. And while he loved the game, nothing matched the thrill of cheering for his Houston Astros. He was a lifelong fan, faithfully following the team through every season, every pitch, and every playoff run. He cheered with the heart of a true fan—loud, proud, and full of hope, whether they were winning or not. Watching the Astros
wasn’t just a hobby for Freddy—it was a passion woven into the fabric of his life. When the Astros won the championship, he was over the moon with joy, beaming with pride as if he were part of the roster. Those victories meant everything to him, and he shared them with his family like treasured memories.
Freddy didn’t need to speak much to leave a mark. He led by quiet example—steady, present, and full of love for his family. His loyalty ran deep, and his presence alone brought comfort to those who knew him best. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, sharp sense of humor, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.
