Alfred Garcia Luna Jr.

Alfred G. Luna, Jr.82, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born and raised in Newgulf, Texas to the parents of Alfred Luna, Sr. and Isabel Garcia Luna.

After graduating from high school, Alfred attended Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. After college he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Munich, Germany. Following his enlistment Alfred returned to Texas and went to work with Brown & Root where he worked as an Accountant for many years until his retirement in 1995. During his leisure time he enjoyed watching sports with his family especially the Oilers, Texans, Astros and Rockets. Alfred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family which he will remain in their hearts forever.

Alfred leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Rosa (Soliz) Luna; his son Alfred Luna, III (Carmen Velasco) and daughter Diane Luna and her fiance Esteban Rios, Jr. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Katelynn Rodriguez, Gabriel Alexander Garza and Monzeratt Luna. He is survived by his brother, Roberto G. Luna of Houston, Texas and his sister, Lydia Mendiola of Corpus Christi, Texas along with a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home in the Grand Chapel with a rosary at 7:00PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home in the Grand Chapel followed with a burial in Brookside Memorial Park & Cemetery.
