Alexander Navy Jr. was born to the union of Alexander Navy Sr. and Blanche Gite Navy on September 13,1930 in Houston, Texas. Alexander graduated high school in Brooklyn, New York and attended Texas Southern University in Houston majoring in Photography. He professed his love and faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Daily Bread Church.
Alexander was a Korean War Veteran. In June 1952, he enlisted into the United States Army and graduated infantry school to join the 82nd Airborne Division specializing in parachute assault missions. He was honorably discharged and remained a proud veteran for the rest of his life.
One of Alexander’s greatest passions was his love for the outdoors. He was a gun collector, an avid fisherman and hunter. Alexander was also a skilled photographer and loved aviation and aerospace. He was charismatic, funny, and loved telling stories to his family and friends. He never met a stranger.
In 1950 he married Dorothy Mae Knowles Navy, and from this union three beautiful children were born-Deborah Ann, Marilyn Joyce, and Alexander Navy III. In 1960, the family moved to San Jose, California.
Alexander worked at General Motors and retired after 30-years of service.
In 1990 he met, and instantly loved Ms. Juanita Jones and they united in matrimony. In Houston, they shared their beautiful life together. Their love for each other remained devoted and faithful for 31 years.
Alexander is survived by his loving and devoted wife Juanita Jones Navy; his children Deborah Navy Douglas, Marilyn Navy Harrison, Alexander Navy III, and Alycia Navy Smith (Kevin); step-children Letha Speaks, Star Larkey Williams (Ricky), Sheree Goodman (James) and Aaron Young; grandchildren Amber Ni’Cole Harrison, Tarik Anthony Daniels, Alexander Navy IV, Arika Rochelle Navy, Brianna Alyse Douglas, Shani Tabia Douglas, Charles Dasan Douglas, Jordan Michael Navy, and Amariah Navy-Nicholson; great grandchildren Nevin Lennox Sistena and Aadyn Claire Harrison; brother Harold S Navy (Arlillian); Aunt Ollie Mae Gite Dugar; and a host of step-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Alexander is preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Blanche Navy; his brother Calvin Navy; sister Erma Jane Navy; nephews Michael Joseph Sellers and Harold Navy Jr.; Dorothy Mae Knowles Navy; and his faithful companion pet dog Pierre.
A visitation for Alexander will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
