Alexander J Gallo Jr. passed away peacefully at 72 years of age while at home early in the morning Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 following an extended recovery from a debilitating stroke he suffered in 2018. We sorely miss his sense of humor, quick wit and determined nature. He took great pride in being a dedicated husband, father and doting grandfather.
This gentle, caring and wonderful man is survived by his loving bride of 37 years Gloria; beloved sister Roseann (Nick); children Sylvia, Joe (Lisa), Marie (Bob), Gilbert (Kayla) and daughter-in-law Irene; grandchildren Riley, Brooke, Hunter, Abby, Owen, Jeremiah, Reanna, Stephan and Chase; great grandchildren Mykena, Aracelli, Amadeus, Cryslin and Onyxx; and baby great great grandson Jeremiah Aaron.
His parents, Alex Sr. and Mary Jayne are welcoming him in Heaven, along with his son Chris, granddaughter Stacey and great granddaughter Angelique.
Alex grew up in Navarre, OH, graduating from Fairless High School in 1966 and working for Timken Roller Bearing, Danner Press and Ohio Power after graduation. He married his high school sweetheart Diane in 1968 and shortly thereafter was drafted into the US Army - proudly serving his country while stationed in Germany - prior to being honorably discharged in 1972. His adventurous spirit led him on a cross country trip, eventually settling in Houston, TX, in the mid 1970s. He went to work for Akzo Chemical and met a spunky, spirited gal who stole his heart. He and Gloria married in 1983 and Alex welcomed his new family with open arms. He continued working for Akzo until his retirement in 2015.
Alex was called home to God to fulfill his long awaited role as keeper of the eternal Lighthouse in Heaven. On his way there he most certainly was riding a Harley Davidson with Rock-N-Roll music blasting from the speakers. His feet are now kicked up comfortably, Shiner Bock in hand, working on a crossword puzzle while watching NASCAR. He truly is in Paradise - strong in his Faith, close to God and beaming a shining light down on his Family.
A Celebration of Alex’s life will be held in the near future - in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Santa Fe Ten Memorial Foundation (https://www.sftenmemorial.org).
