He was born on November 12, 1945 in Houston, Texas and lived to be 71 years old.
On June 26, 1977, he married the love of his life Barbara Lea Mayfield, and
together they had 2 children, Jennifer Lynn and Bryan Jay.
He served his country in the United States Army HHC 3rd Bn 8th Inf 4th Inf
Div during the Vietnam conflict. He was part of a small and elite Army Ranger
reconnaissance division that proved vital intel protecting the young soldiers in
the field of battle.
Jay worked for Harris County Engineering Department as a surveyor until
his retirement on March 31, 2001.
He dedicated himself to his family, friends and his music.
As a unique soul, Jay was very witty, kind and brilliantly funny. He enjoyed
telling stories, doing magic trick for the kids, sneaking treats to his
grandson, as well as telling jokes to all who would listen.
He will be greatly missed.
Jay is survived by his daughter, Jennifer and her husband David, and
grandson, Sean. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, and son
Bryan.
A visitation will be held at the Advantage Howard-Glendale Chapel on Wednesday, April 11, 2017 from 5-7 p.m.
A funeral service to be held Thursday April 12th also at Howard-Glendale Chapel, at 11:00 a.m., located on 1015 Federal Road, Houston, Texas 77015.
A graveside service to immediately follow at Bath Cemetery/Union Hill
Cemetery located at 5105 Possum Walk, Huntsville Texas 77340.
