Albert "Papo" Lopez was born in Huitron, Mexico 102 years ago. A migrant worker along with his parents and his siblings. Traveling several areas of the country from South Texas, West Texas and Michigan, where he met and married his wife, Wanda. They finally settled in Houston, Texas in 1943.
Albert was an excellent landscaper and took his landscaping business very seriously. His longest landscaping job was working with Roy Hofheinz and family for over 40 years. After this, he was also employed by other prominent Houston families. He had a true "green thumb" and could make anything grow and flourish. Always had multiple gardens around his home to provide for his growing family.
He and his wife, Wanda, married 72 years before her passing, raised seven children. Each one excelling in their own field.
Albert was so mechanically inclined he could fix anything. He could rebuild a car motor and any type of lawn equipment as well as any plumbing problems. He was a true "jack of all trades".
The door to his home was always open to receive family and friends at any time of the day. Ready to share in the abundance of never ending pastries available with a cup of coffee. Papo had the biggest sweet tooth ever. The older he got he was able to enjoy just about any food he wanted, because after all at 100 years plus he had earned the right to do so.
We are so grateful to God for allowing us to have this wonderful man for so many years. He was truly a blessing and inspiration not only to family, but to anyone that met him. A man of integrity, dependable and loved his family and would do anything for them or anyone else. We will sincerely miss him. He had a full life and was able to remain in his home just like he was promised.
The Lopez family would like to thank Silverado Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care of our beloved dad. We especially would like to acknowledge Helen, Titi, Leslie, Tomi, Jennifer, and Sweta for their support, kindness and love, they gave our dad in the several months he was under hospice care.
