After a long and fruitful life, Albert Ernest Bolduc passed into eternity October 31, 2022, joining his beloved wife Irene who preceded him in death last year after more than seventy-five years of marriage. He leaves behind 8 children, 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Al was born to Ernest Joseph Bolduc and Eva Gauthier on May 10, 1923, in Ludlow, Massachusetts. During his teenage years he worked at his Uncle Louie’s auto service station in Indian Orchard where he learned to be an auto mechanic. In 1943, his college education was interrupted by WWII, when he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was trained as a pilot, logging over 320 hours flying single engine fighter aircraft. In August 1946, Albert married the love of his life Irene Miner. Shortly thereafter he took advantage of the GI bill to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1950. Upon graduation, he accepted an engineering position with E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company in Wilmington, Delaware, and was transferred to Houston in 1951 where he worked as an engineer in technical sales until retiring in 1985.
He made life-long friends through volunteer and social activities at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where he has worshipped since it was established in 1956. Al was a fixture as an Usher at the Sunday morning mass for over 62 years setting an example for several generations of younger men.
Al was a jack of all trades with no project too big or too small. He kept a fleet of bicycles for his children in tip top shape when they were young, and then the same for their fleet of cars when they reached driving age. When he wasn’t fixing mechanical things, he would be mending jewelry for his six daughters. After his children were grown, he was always there to help with move-in chores, or DIY home repairs or renovations. He taught his sons how to fix cars, and passed along his know how for DIY home maintenance and repairs to all his children.
Al will be remembered for his intelligence, his wisdom and talent, and his integrity. He was gentle in nature, grateful for all that he had, and generous with his love. He will also be remembered for his faithfulness and the witness he gave to growing old and dying with grace. May you rest in peace, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa!
Final arrangements are with Earthman Resthaven. A Rosary and Visitation will be at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Rd., at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday November 12th, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Committal will be at Earthman Resthaven at 1:30 p.m., followed by lunch and celebration of Al’s life at 2:00 p.m.
