Alan Hong Pahn Woo, age 97, born in Woo Ben Village on the 4th of October 1916, in Guangzhou (formerly Canton), China passed away the 20th of May 2014. He arrived in the U.S. November 1929, resided in Salt Lake City; settled in Virginia and was a resident of Houston the past 50 years.
He was a self-employed business man and retired in 1982. He enjoyed a long and good life for which his family is grateful. He so adored his beautiful beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; and always beamed in the presence of each grandchild’s delightful company. He would want his grandchildren to carry on as they have at school and play; dream and make true their dreams; embrace life’s beauty & goodness; live, love, think good thoughts, laugh and enjoy Life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven older siblings (five brothers and two sisters) and his beloved wife of 62 years, Gee H. Moy Woo. He is survived by his loving children, Richard and wife Jania, and their children, Eric, Benita, Cynthia, Paula and their children (all from Boston); daughter, Linda; son, Don and wife Nancy, and their children, Christian, Lauren, and Austin; daughter, Bona; son, Glenn and wife Michelle, and their children, Dylan, Chanee, and Abby. He is also survived by his niece, Ping K. Lew (Florida) and children; children of recently deceased niece, Fay Gwen Huie (Boston); Nephews, Steven Tow and wife Fong, and son, Egan (Richmond, VA), Lam Woo and wife Joann, and children (MA); children of York Wah (MA); numerous Chinn relatives (CA); and others.
His family extends sincere appreciation to the excellent multidisciplinary medical support teams and staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center, Phillip Johnson, MD, Bela Patel, MD, Andrea Xavier, MD. The family also extends their personal thanks to Mr. Edmund Lee. In addition, the family will always remember with respectful appreciation the memory of dear friend, Frank M. Yatsu, MD.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 30th of May, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 31st of May, in the Worship Center of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Rev. George Lim is to officiate.
Interment is to follow, via an escorted cortège, at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.
