Akachukwu "Ugo" Ugochukwu Ekwemalor was born on Friday, November 24, 2000 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was the third of our sons. Akachukwu was especially attached to his mother, with whom he shared an incredibly special bond.
He came with the family to the United States at the age of about 2 years and a few months. He attended kindergarten at La Amistad Love and Learning Academy, then had primary education at Cecile Foerster Elementary and Mary Holley Elementary, both in Houston, Texas. He thereafter attended David Crockett Middle School followed by George W. Bush High School, both in FBISD, from where he graduated in 2019. He loved the game of basketball and was Bush Broncos sophomore MVP and senior Defensive Player.
He started his college education at the Houston Community College System where he completed required science prerequisites before studying nursing at the University of Texas in Tyler. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UT Tyler in December 2023 and passed the NCLEX-RN in February 2024 to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Akachukwu was a devout Catholic who functioned in the role of an Altar Server for several years at our then Church Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Sugar Land, Texas. He was a calm and collected young man who was very well-regarded by family and friends.
