Our beloved “Papo” Abel Tello was born December 5th 1933 to Maria and Fernando Tello. He went home to be with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ Monday December 18th surrounded by his family. Family was the most important thing to him and because of the love he had for all of us, we will continue to stand by each other as a family for him because we know this is what he would want.
Abel gave his heart to Jesus at a young age and desired nothing more than to be a man of honor and integrity. We can proudly say his love for the Lord stayed true and the life he lived is a testimony to that. It began with him leading his family to Jesus not only through prayer, but by example in the way he loved and cared for everyone. He was a selfless man who loved taking care of others. He loved cooking for everyone, fixing his family’s cars, and he was always only a phone call away. He also loved playing dominos, eating, his coffee and the Houston Astros. He was the true definition of a die-hard Astros fan. A few of his hobbies were writing poetry, singing, playing guitar and volunteering as the music director at his church and because of this we are left with so many beautiful memories.
Abel is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria and Fernando and four siblings.
Abel is survived by the love of his life his wife, Guadalupe Tello. His children Mary and her husband Refugio Tamez II, Fernando and Carolyn Tello and Alice and Felix Martinez. He also leaves behind a sister Celia Tello Lamas and her husband Carlos Lamas, 9 grandchildren Refugio Tamez III and his wife Angela, Melinda and Eddie Saenz, Anthony Tamez, Fernando and Shirin Tello, Isabel and Sharrod Hubbard, Abel and Mindy Tello, Rebecca and Brandon Whitby and Alex Martinez and 17 great grandchildren. The family of Abel Tello wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Maria Cruz, Esly, Tangela and all other staff at Legend Oaks Nursing home who showed their love and compassion to him.
