He met Rebecca Gonzales while attending church and married in June 1959. Abel had a career in painting and owned the ARGUS Co. with his wife Rebecca for a number of years. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and the Painters Union. Abel had a passion for serving God, and he will forever be remembered and in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rebecca R. Gonzales.
Abel is survived by his children, Rebecca Nealy, Abel J. Gonzales and his partner Sherry Steely; grandchildren, Angeline Arnold and her husband Seth Arnold, and Victoria Lyles and her husband Matthew Lyles; and great grandchild Lily Lyles.
Serving as pallbearers are Randy Ramirez, Eugene Ramirez, Moses Ramirez, Jose G. Hernandez, Jose C. Hernandez and Joseph Villela.

A visitation for Abel will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM. A burial will occur Friday, April 14, 2023 at Brookside Memorial Park.
