Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, Lucille Castle, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, the 8th of February 2016. She gave 101 years of total love and devotion to her family and friends, who feel so very blessed to have had her in their lives.
Lucille was born on the 12th of October 1914, in Houston, Texas, to Charles and Elle Moore Cheatham. She married Edward Castle in 1935 and together, they had two children, Nancy and Connie. Lucille devoted her life to loving, caring for, and teaching children. She was a teacher at the Mother’s Day Out program at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church for many years, a longtime volunteer at MD Anderson, and a life member of Central Church of Christ
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann Cheatham, and Genne Johnson; and brothers, Roy Cheatham and T.C. Cheatham. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy L. Hinton, and Connie G. Dyess and her husband Glynn; grandsons, Leo V. Reichle (Robin), Damon C. Reichle (Robyn), G. Christopher Carroll (Jan); grandchildren, Paige Reichle, Connor Reichle, Danielle Reichle, Brandon Reichle, Bennett Carroll, and Georgia Carroll; and nephew, Charlie Cheatham.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to La Shunda Diggles and Dorothy Ford for the wonderful care that was given to Lucille.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening, on Friday the 12th of February, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The funeral service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. The interment will immediately follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
