Minister Ralph R. Haynes was born on February 17, 1951, to the late Cora Mae Provost (Norman) and Ralph Reddix in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ralph was reared and raised in Houma, Louisiana. He served his country in the 70s as a member of the United States Navy. On March 31,1990 ralph was united in holy matrimony to his loving wife of 35 years Dorothy J. Harvey in Reno, Nevada. He spent a few years living in Oakland,California. He resided in Houma until the time of his departure. Ralph enjoyed serving the lord, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was baptized in July, 2002 by Pastor Sharon Wanzo at prayer holiness church in Oakland, California. Upon his return to Louisiana, he became a devoted member of Greater St. Matthew’s Baptist church in Houma. On May 26th, 2012, he graduated from the Christian bible college of Houma with a Bachelors' in Theology. On May 28th, 2016, he graduated from there once again with a Masters' in Religion Education. He delivered his first sermon to the congregation at Greater St. Matthew’s Baptist Church on December 16, 2016. On February 11, 2018, he received his Ministry license. Ralph was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother & friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Dorothy J. Haynes. 3 sons, Dontrell Haynes of Houston TX, Dominique and Dantrell Harvey of Houma, LA. 1 daughter Swakniee Howard of Houma. 3 sisters Bernadette Wallis and Mary Butler of Houma, LA and Connie Berry of Oakland, CA. 1 brother Dennis Norman Jr., of Houma, LA. 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, Godchild Starkisha Rhodes of Thibodaux, LA. Godmother Hesther Cooks of Houma, LA. Also, a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Cora Mae provost (Norman), Father Ralph Reddix, stepfather Dennis Norman Sr., daughter Valerie Williams, sisters Angela and Yvette Norman, Inez noble, brothers Darnell and Marvin Norman. Also, grandparents Mary bell and Calvin Provost.
A Memorial service in his honor will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 for 12:00 PM at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow at Southdown Cemetery.
