A Mother's love is hard to give up. You never know how much you're going to miss a mother's love until she's gone.
Joan Batiste Broussard was born on July 31, 1942 to the late Laura and Joseph Batiste. She received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, LA.
Joan was a school teacher for Sumpter Williams High School and Berwick High school. She was also a retired Social Worker and Case Worker for Lakewood Hospital and Franklin Hospital.
Joan leaves to cherish her memories and legacy; the hearts of her children; Lawrence "Tony" Brooks (Trudy) of Morgan City, and Theron Brooks of Ontario CA., Sherrie Brooks-LeMelle (Kevin) of West Covina, CA., and Shelly Broussard of Midland, TX; three sisters, Joyce Lane of St. Rose, LA.., Sarah L. Batiste of New Sarpy, LA., and Elaine Carter of Houma, LA.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph Batiste and Laura Fletcher Batiste, three sisters, Leona B. Turner, Helen Fontenot and Jerry B. Holmes; and one brother, Manuel Batiste.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memories of Joan Batiste Broussard to either Chez Hope of The American Diabetes Association.
Per her wishes, Joan's beloved children will arrange a private celebration of her life.
