Edward James Smith, Jr.

 Mr. Edward James Smith Sr. was born to the parentage of Linward and Margret Smith on August 14th, 1941. Edward accepted Christ at an early age, knowing he needed the Lord in his life. He received his primary education at Smith Ridge School. He learned and Mastered the trade of Auto Mechanic, using that Godly gift to provide for his family. He lived, loved, and enjoyed the life God had afforded for him and his family. One August 14th 2023 around the 6th hour, Edward entered in to eternal rest.

Visitation and funeral services will be observed on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 9:00AM until funeral time at 11:00AM at Jones Funeral Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360. Burial will follow at Mechanicville Emmanuel Cemetery. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister; Iona (Jerome) Jupiter, seven sons Southern Smith Sr , Daveyon (Christina) Smith, Dwayne and Edward Grandison, all of Houma, Edward Smith Jr., Shawn Scott of California and Darren Smith of Texas, six daughters Rita ( Bernard) Bonvillian, Myra (Carl) McGuin and Danielle Jackson, of Houma, Ebonie ( Wendall) Swisher and Kendra (Cliff) Floyd of California and Tammy Smith of Texas, 43 Grandchildren and 46 Great Grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by Parents Linward and Margret Smith , his wife, Barbara Ruth Smith, five brothers Linwood Smith Sr ,Joseph Smith Sr ,Louis Smith Sr, Carl Smith, Lionel Smith, Herman Knightshed and one son David Neville.
