Bob lived well, filling so much life and love into his ninety years on this earth. Following his graduation from Hot Springs High School, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps, later the United States Army, and also served in the Army Reserves before reenlisting in the Army. As masterful communicator, he spent much of his military service in the US Army Signal Corp. He received many commendations for his heroic service, the Bronze Star, two Oakleaf Clusters for his involvement in the Vietnam War, an Army Commendation Medal, and the World War II Victory medal to name a few. After his honorable discharge with the rank of Major, he carried his acumen for communication into civilian life as manager of Resort TV and Cable, where he retired in 1998 after twenty-five years of service.
He had an incredible work ethic, as evidenced by his years of military and civilian service, but he carried that same enthusiasm into his leisure and volunteer efforts. He loved to play golf with “The Three Stooges,” Curly, Larry, Mo…and he was always Schemp. He volunteered throughout the Hot Springs area with the Hot Springs Beautification Commission, Kiwanis Club, Angel Recycling Program, the United Way, and the Ouachita Children’s Center.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his loving wife of 57 years, Gwen Maus; son, Arthur Maus; granddaughter, Jennifer Jones; brother, Louis Craig Maus; and brother-in-law, Glenn Reynolds.
Left to cherish his legacy is his son, Robert D Maus Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter, Susan Murray and husband Billy of Royal, Arkansas; and daughter, Kathryn Maus of Benton, Arkansas; sister Jane Reynolds of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Lyndsi Maus, Matthew Maus, and Megan Hildebrandt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Marion Bleistine of Pennsylvania; special friends, the Murray Family, the Jones Family, the compassionate staff of West Shores Retirement Community, the amazing ladies of The Caring Arms, as well as many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Bob’s celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June, 20, 2019 at First Lutheran Church, 105 Village Rd. Hot Springs, AR 71913, with Pastor Jonathan Beyer officiating.
