Richard was an Industrial/commercial painter most of his life. After retirement he loved to cook and watch the cooking shows. Family favorite was his homemade Lasagna, that included his homemade noodles!!! He enjoyed watching sports with his family, especially the Razorbacks and was a big Miami Dolphins fan. Pops loved to sit on the porch and enjoy the outdoors with his grand "fur" babies, Bowzer, Roscoe and Harley, and most of all his dear family.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice of 59 years; daughter, Tammie Mitzel Rosales; and brothers Pete and Bill Mitzel. Survivors include his son, Troy Mitzel of Texas; daughter, Connie Harris (Kirk) of Hot Springs; sister, Shirley Columbo of Malvern, Ohio; and brothers David Mitzel (Nancy) of Newton KS and Jeff Mitzel (Judy) of Carrollton Ohio; brother and sister in law, Russ and Wenda Locke of Minerva, Ohio; grandchildren Zack Harris (Niki) of Hot Springs; Wesley Harris (Alex) of Benton; Kristen Harris of Chicago, IL; Samantha (Bobby) of Abilene, TX; David Rosales of Abilene, TX; and Stephanie Mitzel of Hot Springs; 6 great grandchildren; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to Dierkson Hospice, especially the nurses and aides that so loving cared for him day to day. They became his family that he loved dearly. Thank you Barb, Marcia, Amber, and CC.
Pops will be greatly missed to all that knew him, but much comfort knowing he is having a great reunion in Heaven with his loved ones!
