Raymond “Garry” Collier, 72, of Hot Springs, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Garry is of the Baptist faith and a true believer, having a special relationship with his Lord and Savior. He was born to Gladys Celestial and Jewell Thearon Collier on September 24, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Garry graduated from U.S. Grand High School and attended Central State University. Garry took over the family business, Independent Fence Company in Oklahoma City until 1991, when he moved to Hot Springs where he established Blackwood Fence & Iron and later established Alliance Fence & Iron. He married Theresa Munz and they worked hard in the fencing business for a number of years during their marriage.
Garry was very sports-minded and won many awards for skeet and clay shoots in Oklahoma. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed going quail, deer, dove, squirrel, and fishing with his father and his nephew. Garry excelled as a pool player and was a member of the APA; he enjoyed bowling, which includes bowling in the Pro-Am Bowling Tour at the age of 16. He loved playing poker and gin with friends. Garry loved the Sooners and Razorbacks, and loved to watch all of the ballgames, college and pro, with his many friends at Alibis-Sports Bar & Grill. He enjoyed following Thoroughbred Horse Racing through his nephew and trainer, Tony Richey. GARRY, YOU WILL BE MISSED!!
