Dr. Raymond Carl Anderson, Jr., 80, of Hot Springs Village, AR, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023. Ray was born in Columbus, OH, on January 3, 1943, to Raymond Carl Anderson, Sr., and Carol Marguerite Lane Anderson. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics.
Dr. Anderson worked in the pharmaceutical industry in various capacities throughout his career in multiple states and countries. He also worked for University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) and for Cantrell Drugs in Little Rock. It was while he was working at Boots Pharmaceuticals in Shreveport, LA, that he met Shirley, his wife of 40 years. She was a member of the Sunset church of Christ, and it was through her that he developed his lifelong love for Christ. He was baptized in 1981. He was an active member of the Hot Springs church of Christ where he was a song leader, taught classes, and occasionally preached. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling. Inspired by his wife’s artistry, he became a member of the Arkansas Pastel Society and served as their Webmaster.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Roberts Anderson, his sister, Linda Meachen (David) of Malvern, PA and his brother-in-law Mark (Phyllis) of Bowling Green, KY. He is also survived by his children, Jeffrey (Kim) of League City, TX, David Cogar of Omaha, NE, Christopher of Shreveport, LA, and Jennifer of Columbus, OH; his grandsons, Nathan Anderson (Alaura) of Chattanooga, TN and Ocean Cogar of McKinney, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Gross Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Forest Park Cemetery West in Shreveport, LA, at 1:00 pm.
