Mary Nell and Gene met in Texas and fell deeply in love. They were married December 22, 1951. They made their home in Hot Springs. Mary Nell began her 35 year teaching career at Red Oak School. After three years, Red Oak and Lakeside consolidated and she spent the rest of her years teaching at Lakeside. She influenced many young lives over the course of the years. Mary Nell was also a faithful member of ADK Sorority and served several terms as President. Most important was Mom’s membership at Red Oak Baptist Church. Mary Nell was an active and faithful member. Her children were always there sitting alongside her and Dad. We were taught the love of God by example. She served her Lord in many capacities… Sunday School teacher, Youth director, youth Choir Director, V.B.S. Director, pianist, etc. She loved sharing the love of God and His teachings with young and old alike.
With all the accomplishments Mary Nell achieved, none were more precious to her than being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for life and family was never ending. Her sharp wit and spunky attitude brought laughter to everyone.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matt Parker, Jason Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Dylan Parker, Jake Parker and Austin Harrell.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. John Bond, Dr. Amy Falck, Yasmine Fustin and Jonathon Peters.
We offer a special heartfelt thanks to Yasmine and Jonathon for the quality care and love they provided.
